Angel Q&A: Rudy Gadre

Rudy Gadre is one of Seattle’s most prolific angel investors. Originally a lawyer by trade, he spent a number of years as a VP at Amazon and General Counsel for Facebook during some of their fastest growth years. After Facebook, he returned to his hometown of Seattle and took up angel investing as a way to grow and support his community. Rudy sat down with us to talk about some of his experiences and offer advice to the next generation of angels.

Angel Q&A: Kristian Andersen

Kristian Andersen is a Partner at HighAlpha, an Indianapolis-based venture studio focused on launching 8-10 enterprise cloud companies over the next several years. HighAlpha is essentially a company that creates companies, with a dedicated venture fund bolted on to fuel the startups they spin out. Prior to HighAlpha, Kristian launched Gravity Ventures, a seed fund that invests in midwest entrepreneurs and trains the angels of tomorrow. He hails from a design background, having founded the design-consultancy Studio Science.

Angel Q&A: Ira Weiss

With over 100 deals under his belt, Ira Weiss has been an active early stage investor in Chicago’s startup ecosystem and nationally for the past 16 years. He is a managing director of Hyde Park Venture Partners and was formerly a managing director of RK Ventures, based in New York. Ira is also a professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he teaches courses on entrepreneurship and venture capital, as well as tax strategy. He sat down with us to share some of his thoughts on startup investing.

Widely regarded as “The Godfather of Angel Investing”, Sig Mosley has been the most prolific angel investor in the Southeast since 1990. He was inducted into the Georgia Technology Hall of Fame in 2007, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from TiE in 2011. Angel Q&A: Josh Maher

Josh Maher is an angel investor in Seattle. He runs an organization called Seattle Angel, which is a nonprofit for educating angel investors and entrepreneurs raising capital in the Northwest. The organization sponsors the Seattle Angel Conference and the Seattle Angel Fund to help investors get experiential learning. He has just published a book on angel investing called Startup Wealth — How the Best Angel Investors Make Money in Startups. We sat down with Josh to learn more about his research and work with angels from around Seattle and across the U.S.
